Requested from BI by F. MENDEZ at 05:05 PM on Jul 27, 2023.
Purpose: for clarification

MENDEZ 05:05 PM, Jul 27, 2023

Hi. I would like to confirm if travel ban for DOST scholars and graduates is still lifted. Do the scholars and graduates still need to secure clearance from DOST to travel abroad. Also, if the intention is to study, do we need to pay the bond or to secure clearance?

Dear FATIMA MENDEZ,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Jul 27, 2023 05:05:48 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

You asked for Travel Restrictions for DOST Scholars.

We appreciate the information given. However, please be informed that the BI has no jurisdiction over travel restrictions imposed by the DOST, the BI is only the implementing agency carrying out the provisions of your agreement/contract with the DOST. Thus, the BI only acts upon the request of other government Offices such as the DOST.

As such, you may direct your query to the DOST whether or not clearance is still required or whether you need to post a bond for purpose of study abroad or whether you are still bound with the DOST Agreement?

Likewise, in order to ensure ease of travel you may secure a BI Certificate that you are no longer subject of DOST ban.

Documentary requirements for BI Certificate may be viewed and downloadable at www.immigration.gov.ph and coursed your request at the Certification and Clearance Section located at the BI- Main Office, Magallanes Drive, Intramuros Manila.

Thank you.
