Dear Jun No,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Mar 23, 2022 04:55:17 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

You informed BI that you are were previously detained for 4 years and has been acquitted based on a criminal action, and informed the BI that you opt to legalize your stay in the country.

Under BI policy, deportation proceedings are separate and distinct from a criminal charge. As such we advice you to should secure extension of stay with the Bureau of Immigration located at the Main Office, Intramuros, Manila with telephone no. 4652400 loc 102, and apply for proper visa.

Please note however, an alien who has been paroled/ acquitted in a criminal action of a particular charge does not prevent the deportation of such alien based on the same charge.

Documentary requirements for visa extension may be viewed and downloadable at www.immigration.gov.ph

Thank you.
