Hi I would like to know what are the procedures on raising a complaint against relatives overseas who are responsible on leaving their mother here in the philippines. She has been suffering from dementia and wants to return to the US but they took her passport that will expire Feb 2029. Thanks in advance.

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Apr 28, 2021 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

You asked for Abandoned Elderly- US Citizen.

Response to your request

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we would need for you to resubmit your request as we are still missing from you some vital information. Please ensure that, in addition to all the mandatory fields, you also fill out the fields pertaining to the following:
1. Nationality of the Elder Foreign National and his/her child/ren who abandoned her/him;
2. Kind of Passport does the elder Foreign National possessed.

Please note that in the event that the elderly's nationality is not Filipino, you have to coordinate with the Embassy of the foreign national (e.g. US Embassy). The latter shall issue new passport and assist the former.

Moreover, you may send the documents pertaining to the issue to the BI official email immigPH@gmail.com or xinfo@immigration.gov.ph.

Your right to request a review

If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to the BI Commissioner, JAIME H.
