Your Request

You asked for HEALTH INSURANCE IN THE PHILIPPINES.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved. I enclose a copy of the Insurance Commission's Key Data of the information you requested through the following link: https://www.insurance.gov.ph/summary-from-2017-2021-preliminary-figures/

For item 2, kindly refer to page 4 for Health Insurance from life companies, page 12 for Health Maintenance Organization Members. (Kindly take note as well that the figure of health insurance from non-life insurance companies being at 2.95 million for 2021 is based on the submitted Annual Statements. To add, insured lives may be overstated as it may include multiple policies of individuals from two or more companies.

For item 3, please use data from item 2 and Philippine population (available in page 1 of the Key Data).

Please note that we are only able to provide some of the information you have requested for as this Commission has no available data on the percentage of income allocated for health insurance. As for Access to PhilHealth, you may access through the PhilHealth website: https://www.philhealth.gov.ph/
