Hi,
I would like to request data on how the Power Generators - generate their electricity to provide for the subscriber or consumers.
1. Are they utilizing Alternative Energy?
2. What type of Alternative Energies?
3. How many are using Solar Panels for Energy generation?
4. What is the percentage of power generators that are using solar?

Your Request
You asked for Electric Cooperatives' way of Generating Electricity.
The NEA is the GOCC that supervises all the Electric Cooperatives (ECs) in the country. The agency is also responsible to provide legal, institutional, financial, and technical assistance to the ECs. The ECs are non-stock, non-profit organization that are responsible for the distribution of electricity to their respective franchise areas.
The questions raised are unclear whether they refer to ECs or Power Generators. If the questions are for the Generators, the NEA cannot provide clear and concise answers and we kindly suggest that you direct the questions to the Department of Energy (DOE). The ECs are distribution utilities, thus, they procure power or electricity and deliver them to the electricity consumers. One of the most common methods of procuring power is through the Competitive Selection Process (CSP) of the Department of Energy. Most Power Supply Agreements (PSAs), regardless of technology (conventional or renewable), undergo the CSP process. Although the ECs are primarily in the power distribution business, they are empowered by laws (RA 9136 and RA 10531) to engage in power generation. As such, there are some ECs that venture into the generation business. Furthermore, the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), one of the non-fiscal incentives provided by the Renewable Energy Act, mandates all distribution utilities and other mandated participants to source a power of their power supply to renewable energy sources. With this, more and more ECs are securing and utilizing renewable energy for their power supply either by power supply procurement or developing their own renewable energy plants.
Any type of renewable energy (Solar, Hydro, Wind, etc.) can be developed by the ECs as long as its viability can be proven through feasibility studies. Some ECs that have developed their own renewable energy plants are Romblon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ROMELCO), Cebu I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CEBECO I), Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ORMECO), Bohol I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (BOHECO I), Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc. (INEC), and Antique Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ANTECO).
