Hi! I just would like to seek clarification regarding the Father of Rural Electrification.

" General Pedro Gallarza Diaz Dumol
History. General Pedro Gallarza Diaz Dumol is considered to be the "Father of Rural Electrification (in the Philippines)" when approximately 2,700,000 connections had been made from zero when he moved in as chief of the National Electrification Administration until his retirement in 1986."

Dear Nicolas Fuentes,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Apr 24, 2023 09:53:04 AM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for HISTORY OF RURAL ELECTRIFICATION IN THE PHILIPPINES.

Response to Request

Thank you for your query. We did some research including asking several former NEA employees regarding this. Most of them remembered that Emmanuel Pelaez is the Father of Rural Electrification. However, we could not find any official document/s to validate this matter.

You may want to see the links of the articles stating that former Vice President Emmanuel Pelaez is the Father of Rural Electrification.(links ng MORESCO I at SunStar). Though there are also articles like that of Wikipedia, which say that Gen. Pedro Dumol is also given the same title.

We hope this would somehow clarified your query.
