You asked for Public Libraries' Statistical Data and Guidelines.

Response to Request
1. Statistics data providing the number of public libraries in the Philippines

As of June 2023, we have a total number of 1,640 affiliated public libraries with the National Library of the Philippines. I will also share the PDF file of our Directory.

2. Statistics data providing the number of libraries in Dasmarinas, Cavite

As of today, we only have 1 affiliated public library which is the Aklatang Panlungsod ng Dasmariñas. The OIC of the library is Ma. Teresa O. Daño. You can reach her Ms. Daño through her email address: materesadano@yahoo.com, tessdano@gmail.com,

3. Data on the closure or inactivity of the closed and inactive libraries

As of June 2023, the total number of inactive public libraries is 655 while the number of closed public libraries is 402.

4. Reasons for the closure or inactivity of the closed and inactive libraries

- Retirement of the in-charge of the library
- Change of local government unit handling the management and supervision of the library
- No allotted funds for the library
- No support from the local government unit

5. Data funding allocated for libraries in Dasmarinas City, Cavite

We do not have knowledge with regards to budget allocation intended for the Aklatang Panlungsod ng Dasmarinas. You may reach Ms. Dano through her contact details indicated in number (2).

6. Design guidelines and requirements for public libraries

Requirements for public libraries (for establishment and affiliation with the NLP)

a) must have separate building / room of adequate size
b) must have sufficient number of chairs, reading tables, bookshelves, and other library equipment, fixtures and furniture necessary for effective library operation
c) must have signage/facade
