Online lending apps Harassment & THREATENING CLIENTS

Purpose: To eliminate or close those online lending apps that are harassing our contacts from our phonebooks.

These online lending apps (fast cash, peso pocket, cash will, halika cash, pautang peso etc) are harassing their clients and some of the clients references even the other contacts that they were able to hacked from our phonebooks. These online lending apps that has a high interest should be stopped from harrasing and humilating people. Below are the sample messages received from some of the lending apps.

"HOY IKAW PUTANGINA KA KUNG WALA KANG KAKAYAHAN MAGBAYAD MAGPAKAMATAY KA NALANG ISAMA MO NA PATI PAMILYA AT MGA ANAK MO! KAMI GAGAWA NG AKSYON PARA MANINGIL SAYO PUTANGINA MO. HAMPASLUPA KA"

You seek help due to alleged unauthorized access and harassment of an online lending app.

Response to your request

While we aim to provide information whenever possible, in this instance, your inquiry is not a valid FOI request. Complaints and request for clarification on data privacy or data protection should be responded to through email reply. 

Nonetheless, to assist you with your concern, we have forwarded your inquiry, name, and email address to our Public Information and Assistance Division (info@privacy.gov.ph) for the drafting of response.

You may expect our written response within 3-7 working days. However, if the concerned office determines that this may be a subject of an advisory opinion, the same will be released to you not later than 20 working days, unless the complexity and novelty of the subject matter require a longer period of time for further evaluation. 

Your right to request a review

If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to Privacy Commissioner and Chairman John Henry Du Naga at info@privacy.gov.ph. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response and should be made within 15 calendar days from the date you received this letter. We will complete the review and tell you the result within 30 calendar days from the date we receive your review request.
