Question on Embassy-Fires across PH History

Requested from BFP by J. Tumang at 05:29 PM on Oct 25, 2023.
Purpose: Quenching a Burning Question in Mind
Date of Coverage: 06/12/1898 - 10/23/2023
Tracking no: #BFP-280307168193

On 4 February 2022, the Russian Embassy suffered a fire, the PH's only embassy-burning incident in my living memory. But, I wasn't always monitoring the news, so my memory could be wrong. Is it, though? Have any other embassies in the PH ever caught fire in PH History? (During World War Ⅱ, perhaps? How about during the Spanish occupation, if possible?) If there are other documented incidences aside, could a listing be made, please? Thanks!

Dear Jose-Mari Tumang,

I refer to my letter of Oct 25, 2023 05:29:42 PM; about your request under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch, for Question on Embassy-Fires across PH History.

Our response to your request is due on Nov 15, 2023 05:29:42 PM. Unfortunately, it is taking longer than expected to deal with your request because records for Embassy Fires cannot be easily retrieved from the data base considering that there are 15, 000 fires in average per year. As far as we know, the Bureau of Fire Protection has only recorded fire incidents in detail starting from the year 2010.

I apologize for this delay but have applied for an extension so we could work further on your request. We hope to be able to send you a response on or before Dec 13, 2023 05:29:42 PM.

Should you have any questions regarding your request, kindly contact me using the reply function on the eFOI portal at https://pcoomaster07042018130000-dot-efoi-ph.appspot.com/requests/aglzfmVmb2ktcGhyHQsSB0NvbnRlbnQiEEJGUC0yODAzMDcxNjgxOTMM, for request with ticket number #BFP-280307168193.

Thank you.

Wow, 15k reported fires per year‽ Okay. Understood. That's a lot of info sift through. Do as need be, then. We must be realistic. For so long as the resulting data is accurate, all is well, then. Do your best. More power to you!

Understood. That makes sense. And yes, I did send the e-mail (on 1 specific incident) months ago, while this F.O.I.-request focuses on all incidences. But, the response to this request makes sense and covers all cases. Okay. Thanks for the clarification, then!
