Hi BIR,

Good day! I would like to inquire regarding the availability of a dataset for the financial statements of liner shipping companies as in a list we can provide (approximately 50 companies). For the periods/years 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020.

Or simply, the respective gross revenues of the shipping companies or revenues by passenger/cargo (if these are available).

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Oct 24, 2022 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your request

You asked for Gross Revenue of Domestic Shipping Companies.

In reply, pursuant to Executive Order No. 2 S. 2016, any request for information through electronic Freedom of Information (eFOI) portal (www.foi.gov.ph) shall attach scanned copies of the following documents:

1.	 Letter request by the taxpayer or its authorized representative;
2.	The request shall reasonably describe the purpose of the request for information;
3.	Original Board Resolution duly notarized, Corporate Secretary Certificate, or other acceptable written consent showing the authority of the representative to act in behalf of the corporation;
4.	At least two (2) valid government I.D.s containing photograph and signature;

Further, please be informed that our office has no custody of the Financial Statement (FS) filed by the transacting public (Domestic Shipping Companies).

Hence, other confidential matters falling under the exceptions to the Freedom of Information are prohibited to be released by the concerned Revenue District Office where such company is registered.

As an added note, we are also constrained by rules under Sec.13.3 Standard Procedure for FOI Request to wit:” The purpose of the request for information shall be specific or adequately and sufficiently described. General averments of the purpose such as "for information," "for research," "for legal purpose," or other similarly worded purposes shall not be considered to have met the requirements of specificity. Failure to specify the reason for or purpose of the request for information shall be a ground for denial of the FOI request.
