Dear BIR:

I am to purchase some property and would require me to pay CGT and DST. However, i forgot my TIN and currently i am not able to travel to nearest BIR office. I asked my mother to get me copy in BIR kidapawan City but they are asking for a nonsense authorization letter which i found irrelevant. What would BIR loose if they will provide that?

You asked for a copy of your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).

Response to your request

In reply, please be informed that Republic Act 10173 Data Privacy Act of 2012 prohibits improper divulgence of personal information about an individual without the individual’s consent.  Hence, TIN verification through a representative requires a Special Power of Attorney (SPA) and government-issued IDs of the TIN owner (photocopy) and the representative (original).

However, another way to verify your TIN is through a chat with Chatbot REVIE in the BIR website at www.bir.gov.ph homepage.
