Dear Mikkaella Aranas,

Greetings!

This is in reply to your request regarding the economic contribution of BPO industry in Bohol in terms of tax revenue, dated May 22, 2022 and received by this office last May 23, 2022.

Republic Act No. 10173 of the Data Privacy Act of 2012, allows the Commissioner of Internal Revenue to process and collect personal information for a lawful purpose connected with the functions and activities of administering the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997, as amended and other tax laws. Likewise, Sec. 270 of the NIRC states that a BIR personnel cannot divulge information collected from taxpayers concerning the latter's business, income or estate as well as the secrets, operation, style or work, or apparatus of any manufacturer or producer, or confidential information regarding the business of any taxpayer.

However & upon verification, all Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) registered within the district office of Bohol are branches only, subject to Annual Registration Fee of P500.00. Annual Income Tax, VAT and other taxes are remitted to the district office which has jurisdiction over their main office. Hence, this district office has no  information regarding the economic contribution of BPO industry in Bohol in terms of tax revenue.
