Hi! I would like to request assistance in authenticating the identity of Clitorea ternatea, a plant, that will be used as a subject in our study, as the authentication of the said subject is an important part of this research process.

With that, we would like to know how the sample should be submitted and how much of a sample of the plant is required, along with other specific guidelines to be followed and requirements that are needed.

Your Request

You asked for Plant Authentication.

Response to Request
 The Crop Research and Production Support Division of the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) issues certificates on the identification, authentication, and verification of food agricultural crops based on available data/ resources – FREE OF CHARGE, via online or onsite. 

Documents required (Onsite): 
1.	Request letter addressed to the BPI Director, Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, PhD indicating the purpose of identification and certification (Original + 1 copy) 
(FOR STUDENTS - IN SCHOOL’S LETTERHEAD, SIGNED BY THE STUDENT AND ADVISER) 

2. Clear, colored printed photo of plant/specimen in a coupon bond (2 COPIES) 

3. Actual Plant/Specimen (complete parts of the plant as possible) 

4. Duly filled out Application form. (Available at the CRPSD Office)

Our office is open M-F/ 8AM-5PM (except holidays). Processing usually takes 3-5 working days. CRPSD may send the Certificate of Identification to the requesting party.  


Documents required (Online request) – Please e-mail the following requirements to recordssection@buplant.da.gov.ph

1.	Request letter addressed to the BPI Director, Gerald Glenn F. Panganiban, PhD indicating the purpose of identification & and certification (Original + 1 copy)

Once approved and endorsed, CRPSD will send the Application form and will contact you for any clarification on your specimen or request. Processing usually takes 3-5 working days.

FYI, Universities/ Colleges with Biology or Agriculture departments in your region or The National Museum also conduct plant ID.
