MS. FRANCES DOMINIQUE DUPAYA

Dear Ms. Dupaya:

Greetings from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas!

Thank you for your eFOI request regarding the number of Filipino flight attendants overseas.

As the CFO’s primary clientele are the emigrants who will permanently live in other countries, our annual statistics only include those that underwent the CFO’s mandatory Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) for emigrants, Exchange Visitor Program participants (US J-1 visa holders), or Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) for spouses or partners of foreign nationals prior to their departure.

On the other hand, temporary migrants or overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are not required to register with the CFO before their departure from the Philippines. They are instead required to register with and obtain their Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). The link below that contains information about OFWs and other professions by skill and by country might help you:

http://poea.gov.ph/ofwstat/ofwstat.html

For questions or clarifications, you may contact Mr. Elfred del Rosario of the Policy, Planning and Research Division at 552-4763 or through email at dr.elfred@gmail.com.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

MR. RODRIGO V. GARCIA, JR.
