Good day!

I am a reporter doing a story on OFWs. I am requesting for the following data: 
1. How many families have an OFW member in their household?
2. How many OFWs are mothers with children in the Philippines?
3. From 2016 to 2017, how many OFWs have gone back to the Philippines because of a family emergency?

Greetings from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO)!

Thank you for your information request regarding data and statistics on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
 
We regret, however, that we are unable to provide the information requested since migrant workers or OFWs are not required to register with the CFO before their departure from the Philippines.

The CFO’s primary clientele are the emigrants who will permanently live in other countries. On the other hand, OFWs or temporary migrants, are required to register with and obtain their Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). The link below that contains information about OFWs and other professions by skill and by country might help you:

The POEA’s Planning Branch, which is in charge of updating POEA’s annual deployment statistics has the proper authority to provide you with the information that you need. Please refer to the attached directory for your easy reference.
