Greetings from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas!

Thank you for your eFOI request regarding the latest number of overseas Filipinos.

As the CFO’s primary clientele are the emigrants who will permanently live in other countries, we are pleased to provide you with statistics of CFO-registered emigrants by geographical region and country from 1981 - 2016. These numbers include annual statistics on Filipinos who underwent the CFO’s mandatory Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) for emigrants, or Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) for spouses or partners of foreign nationals prior to their departure.

On the other hand, temporary migrants or overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are not required to register with the CFO before their departure from the Philippines. They are instead required to register with and obtain their Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). The link below that contains information about OFWs and other professions by skill and by country might help you:

The POEA’s Planning Branch, which is in charge of updating POEA’s annual deployment statistics, has the proper authority to provide you with the information that you need regarding OFWs. Please refer to the attached directory for your easy reference.
