Dear Mr. Ceñidoza,

Greetings from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO)!

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the number of Filipino emigrants.

As the CFO’s primary clientele are the emigrants who will permanently live in other countries, we are pleased to provide you with a link to statistics of CFO-registered emigrants by age, education, sex, civil status, occupation, country of destination, and place of origin. These numbers include annual statistics on Filipinos who underwent the CFO’s mandatory Pre-departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) for emigrants, or Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) for spouses or partners of foreign nationals prior to their departure.

https://www.cfo.gov.ph/downloads/statistics/statistical-profile-of-registered-filipino-emigrants.html

We are also pleased to share with you the link to the CFO’s Compendium of Statistics on International Migration which features the yearly stock estimates of overseas Filipinos, the number of registered Filipino emigrants, spouses and partners of foreign nationals, US Exchange Visitor Program (EVP) participants, Au Pairs, and data on financial and material contributions of overseas Filipinos to the Philippines coursed through the CFO's Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (LINKAPIL) program.

https://cfo.gov.ph/images/pdf/pdf-migration/2014-CFO-Statistical-Compendium.pdf

The primary sources for the stock estimate are the registration data of emigrants and other clientele of the CFO (for permanent migrants), overseas employment data from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (for temporary migrants), and consolidated reports (including irregular migrants) from the more than eighty Foreign Service posts of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

However, temporary migrants, or overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), are not required to register with the CFO before their departure from the Philippines. They are instead required to register with and obtain their Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). The link below that contains information about OFWs and other professions by skill and by country might help you:

For questions or clarifications, you may contact the CFO’s Policy, Planning and Research Division at 552-4763 or through email at dr.elfred@gmail.com.

To further improve our services, may we also kindly request for your feedback through this link: https://goo.gl/forms/FeSqdqLNMoNkInCo2 (Policy, Planning and Research Division Client Satisfaction Form). The form is brief and will only take a minute to complete.

Thank you and best regards.

Very truly yours,
