MS. ALEX DELA PAZ

Dear Ms. dela Paz:

Greetings from the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO)!

Thank you for your eFOI request regarding data and statistics on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in South Korea, Japan, Guam, and China.

We regret, however, that we are unable to provide the information requested since migrant workers or OFWs are not required to register with the CFO before their departure from the Philippines.

The CFO’s primary clientele are the emigrants who will permanently live in other countries. On the other hand, OFWs or temporary migrants, are required to register with and obtain their Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA). The link below that contains information about OFWs and other professions by skill and by country might help you:

http://poea.gov.ph/ofwstat/ofwstat.html

The POEA’s Planning Branch, which is in charge of updating POEA’s annual deployment statistics has the proper authority to provide you with the information that you need. Please refer to the attached directory for your easy reference.

For questions or clarifications, you may contact Mr. Elfred del Rosario of the Policy, Planning and Research Division at 552-4763 or through email at dr.elfred@gmail.com.

Thank you and best regards.

Respectfully,

MARIA REGINA ANGELA G. GALIAS
Interim Officer-in-Charge
