Dear Dianne Baradi,

Greetings!

This is in reply to your email query endorsed to the Authority from the Freedom of Information Website dated October 04, 2021 requesting for information on our Proposed Construction of Fast Ferry Terminal Building @ Berth 13, Cebu Baseport which was cancelled in 2019. 

As mentioned in your email, you are requesting the following information:
1. Documents regarding the possible proponents of the proposal;
2. Proposed development plans;
3. Reasons why the project didn't continue;
4. Space requirements of the passenger building.

Relative thereto, we are attaching herewith the Project Profile for the Proposed Ferry Terminal Building which can effectively answer nos. 1, 2 and 4 of your query. As to the reasons why the project did not continue, it was mainly due to the high interest rates imposed by the Funding Agency on the loan amount for the project. Also, the Authority decided to address first the vessel and cargo congestion at the Baseport by constructing two new R.C. Deck Piers which effectively added vessel berthing space and cargo back up areas at the location of the Proposed Mega Terminal Building.
