Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Oct 14, 2019 10:19:29 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for Energy/Biofuel of Coconut Biomass.

To address your request, please see below details.

Coconut oil (CNO) is currently used as feedstock in the production of biodiesel (coconut methyl ester or CME) which is mandated {under the Biofuels Act of 2006 (R.A. 9367) } to be blended in all diesel fuels sold in the country. The current mandated blend is two percent  (2%). In the Philippines, we have already 11 accredited biodiesel production plants (See attached).

For other parts of coconut, i.e., frond, husk, shell, we do not have data yet.

If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to Sec. Alfonso G. Cusi at alfonsocusi@gmail.com. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response, and should be made within 15 calendar days from the date when you received this letter.
