Dear Jezriel Mercado,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated May 27, 2021 10:57:37 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

This pertains to your request received through the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Electronic Freedom of Information (eFOI) portal for the list of recent alternative fuels being used or being studied for automotive or power generation applications.

Currently, the Energy Utilization Management Bureau – Alternative Fuels and Energy Technology Division (EUMB-AFETD) of the DOE implements the Alternative Fuels Program for Transport. The Program is aimed to promote diversification of country’s fuel sources in road transport sector while contributing solutions to energy security and vehicular emission. Among the program’s initiatives are the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as fuel for jeepneys and farm equipment (using an LPG conversion kit), e-mobility e.g., next-generation vehicles, such as hybrid vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles, and pure electric vehicles powered by electricity through charging stations.
