Dear Harry King Avenido,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Nov 26, 2023 08:00:18 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for LPG vs Electric Heating.

Response to Request

Dear Mr. Avenido:

Under Republic Act No. 11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Act, its implementing rules and regulations, and its governing memorandum circular MC2020-05-0001, energy-intensive entities under the commercial, industrial, and transport sectors are enjoined to submit their energy consumption to the DOE via the DOE DE Online Submission Portal. DEs are to be classified based on the current minimum threshold of 100,000 kilowatt-hour.

Their consumption involves all types of fuels including transport fuels, fuels used in electricity generation, and in their respective production lines, and electricity consumption.

In this regard, the DOE only has a repository of consumption for DEs. No study has yet been conducted regarding the comparison of the use of LPG versus Electric Heating.
