Your FOI request is approved.
Please be informed that cremation is an approved method to dispose of human remains based on the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Presidential Decree 856 – Code on Sanitation of the Philippines Chapter XXI – Disposal of Dead Persons.
While we recognize that new and upgraded technology like water cremation may evolve to perform the complete cremation process, the establishment of such a business shall require approval from the Department of Health prior to its commercial operation to ensure health and safety protection of the general public.
