Dear Lenard Aze Macaraig,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Sep 16, 2023 11:05:09 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for Accident Prone areas.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved.

Attached is the number of injury cases and deaths due to Transport/Vehicular Accidents (2013-2023 Q1) reported to the Online National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (ONEISS). Please be informed of the following:

1. ONEISS can only collect the data on injury cases brought to and reported by the reporting hospitals/facilities.
2. ONEISS does not have data on accident-prone areas and/or roads in the Philippines.
3. Since ONEISS mainly captures injury cases, Transport/Vehicular Accidents fall under the external causes of the injuries of the patients. Only the cause of injuries, and not the cause of accidents, are part of the data being collected by the system. However, we have the risk factors associated with transport/vehicular accidents (alcohol influence, smoking, use of mobile phones, feeling sleepy, others). please send another request should you wish to have the data on these risk factors.
