Dear Rose Ann Leano,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Oct 16, 2023 01:01:52 AM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for Mental Health Awareness.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved.

Please refer to the Mental Health Program at https://doh.gov.ph/national-mental-health-program for an overview of the services we provide and some materials we readily share. Rest assured that the Specialty Care Division looks into these conditions in compliance with RA11036, otherwise known as the Mental Health Act, which encompasses mental, neurological and substance use (MNS) disorders.

This is in response to your eFOI request (#DOH-118073561589) regarding the following:
1. List of Most Densely Populated Areas in the Philippines with Psychotherapy Need recently.
2. Statistical Records regarding Mental Health in Most Densely Populated Areas in the Philippines specifically the most leading mental illnesses and number of mentally ill per age and gender.

Sharing with you the population density of the various areas of the Philippines based on the Philippine Statistics Authority at https://psa.gov.ph/content/highlights-population-density-philippines-2020-census-population-and-housing-2020-cph. We do not have yet specific data on which regions have availed non-pharmacological interventions such as psychotherapy. However, you may refer to the NSMHW for the regions with prevalence of mental health conditions. We would like to share with you the draft terminal report (attached) of the National Survey for Mental Health and Wellbeing (NSMHW) to give us a picture of the mental health status of the country as a whole while we wait for the consolidation of electronic medical records of patients and as we improve our information systems. The study is a household survey that was commissioned by DOH to provide information on the state of mental health in the country while we improve our hospital data.

You may refer to the CHDs for data if available. Attached is the directory of Centers for Health Development for your reference. You may ask in these offices for specific data. (When you already have identified the densely populated areas in the country).

Thank you
