Hello Ma’am/Sir,

Good day and trust this email finds you well.
I’m a registered nurse in the Philippines and is currently living in Canada. Im in the process of obtaining my nursing license here in Ontario, Canada through the College of Nurses of Ontario.
I had my clinical experience in a private clinic in Cebu and I was asked to provide the facility code of the said clinic. The clinic is not registered in the NHFR.
May I please request for a letter of explanation as to why private clinics are exempted to this requirement?Appreciate your immediate action on this.

It is a Pediatric clinic named "Alredo Bongo Jr. MD" and it is located in Chung Hua Hospital in Cebu. The College of Nurses of Ontario is asking for a confirmation directly from the DOH stating that the said clinic does not need to register and does not require a facility code as well as an explanation of why this facility is exempted. Thank you so much for your assistance and I hope to get a reply soon.

Dear Anthony Racho,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Nov 21, 2023 10:55:13 AM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for Letter of Explanation.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved.

The NHFR currently covers health facilities that are licensed and regulated by the Department of Health (DOH), Barangay Health Stations, Rural Health Units, DOH and LGU health offices and DOH managed warehouses. And the DOH does not regulate private clinics as of yet. The local government units have jurisdiction over private clinics through the issuance of business permits. As such, these facilities are not encoded in the registry.

We hope our reply has cleared up any concerns you needed about the matter.

Thank you
