Pest and Control Program

Requested from DOH by S. Hermosa at 09:23 AM on Nov 12, 2021.
Purpose: Nursing research
Date of Coverage: 01/01/2020 - 11/12/2021

Hermosa 09:23 AM, Nov 12, 2021

Hi! I would like to request for a list of current pest and vermin control programs for communities/barangays, particularly in Metro Manila. I saw in a research that the Bureau of Quarantine procured pest control materials. I was wondering if there are programs related to that. Thank you!

Dear Samantha Nicole Hermosa,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Nov 12, 2021 09:23:38 AM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your request

You asked for Pest and Control Program.

Response to your request

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance this Office does not have the information you have requested.

Please be informed that FDA- Center for Cosmetics and Household Urban Hazardous Substances Regulation and Research (CCHUHSRR)
does not regulate or monitor vermin control and vector control programs. The Center regulates the use of Household/Urban Pesticide products as well as the Pest Control Operators and Pesticide Handlers who may be hired to do the pesticide treatments (Administrative Orders No. 2019-0008 and 2019-0010). Unfortunately, CCHUHSRR has not yet issued the FDA circular that provides
the implementing licensing, certification and accreditation guidelines for PCOs, Pesticide Handlers and Training Providers, respectively. Thus, PCOs are at the moment, not yet licensed by FDA, nor are pesticide handlers certified by FDA.

It might be best to consult the Local Health Offices per Sanitation Code, for their mandate with respect to pest and vermin control programs of the localities.

For further assistance you may review the FAQ section of the eFOI site: https://www.foi.gov.ph/help.
