You asked for BED CAPACITY OF A SPECIALIZED HOSPITAL.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved. 

The DOH does not have a standard and/or minimum number of beds for specialized hospitals in the Philippines. One approach is to calculate the hospital bed gaps in your identified catchment using the general formula: Gap = Demand - Supply. You may refer to the Philippine Health Facility Development Plan 2020-2040 for the projected hospital bed needs of provinces and highly urbanized cities.

Once it is established that there is a gap in hospital beds for specialty care in the catchment area, the hospital proponents can conduct further assessments as to their target number of hospital beds based on the projected caseload of the facility as well as the capacity of the hospital to sustain the operations of the target bed capacity.
