Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved.

The Red Orchid Award (ROA), which was launched in 2009 as an award system to promote and attain 100% Smoke free environments, saw the transformation of local government units and various stakeholders in protecting the health and well-being of individuals, the community and the environment. Recognizing the success of such incentive mechanisms, the DOH, through the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB), streamlined and integrated all recognition and awarding mechanisms relevant to the promotion of healthy behaviors and environments into the Healthy Pilipinas (HP) awards.

The HP award for Healthy Communities, Healthy Champions, and Healthy Schools aims to recognize the health promotion initiatives of the Local Government Units, Learning Institutions, Civic Societies, Non-Government Organizations, and other partner institutions. Under the Healthy Communities and Healthy Schools, indicators of ROA as well as other innovative tobacco prevention and control strategies and mechanisms are integrated as award criteria. We encourage local government offices to submit their applications to the HP awards for Healthy Communities, recognizing their leading role in advancing initiatives across the Seven (7) Priority Areas outlined in the Department of Health's  Promotion Framework Strategy. Data collection for the HP Awards for Healthy Communities is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2024. For more information, please consult the DOH DILG Joint Administrative Order (JAO) 2021-0002 entitled "National Policy Framework on the Promotion and Recognition of Health Communities"
