Dear DOJ, 

I would like to request the following:

1) Annual statistics showing murder convictions nationally by year (2010-2018 calendar years, plus 2019 year-to-date).

2) What is DOJ's annual case-load of murder/homicide cases undergoing prosecution but not convicted for the same years? If not conviction, what was the outcome?

Your Request

You asked for copies of the annual homicide conviction statistics and DOJ case load.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved. We are pleased to enclose the documents you requested.

Please note that we are only able to provide nationwide statistics showing convictions on murder cases from 2016 to 2018 as the new monitoring system with offense classification for cases prosecuted in court started only in 2016. Further, the collection and processing of the 2019 data are still ongoing and will be released to the public once completed.

Your right to request a review

If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to Hon. Menardo I. Guevarra, Secretary, Department of Justice, Padre Faura Street, Ermita, Manila.
