I would like to request any data and/or documents you have of investigations of the Department of Justice connected with the 1988 kidnapping case in Davao City. The president recently mentioned in his speech that there were 3 casualties. Thank you.

SUBJECT:	RESPONSE TO THE FOI QUERY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE OF MR. FRANKLIN AGUILAR

Greetings!

This is in response to your FOI query dated 22 December 2016, requesting for any data and/or documents relative to 1988 kidnapping cases in Davao City, which the President recently mentioned in his speech.

After a diligent search of the available records under the Office of the Secretary of Justice and all concerned offices of the DOJ, we found no available data and/or documents in relation to 1988 kidnapping case in Davao City.

Based on the inventory and search made by the Records Management Section (RMS) of this Department, there are no records of any kind in relation to the aforementioned incident. A certification to this effect was issued by the RMS, which is attached herein as Annex A for your reference.

We, likewise, made a request for the documents relative to your query with the Office of the City Prosecutor of Davao City, which certified that no case for kidnapping was filed in their office involving then Mayor and now President, Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the period of January 1, 1988 to December 31, 1988. Attached herewith is a copy of said certification as Annex B.
