Greetings! I am Raye Danielle H. Peralta, a fourth year student pursuing bachelor of arts in journalism at the University of Santo Tomas.
I write to request records from​ ​the​ Department of Justice. It is my objective to obtain a copy of​ ​the following documents related to the status of the Run Against Tax Evaders (RATE) cases filed at the Department of Justice: 
1.	List of Run Against Tax Evaders (RATE) cases filed to DOJ in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
2.	The status of RATE cases filed in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
3.	Legal actions implemented by the Department of Justice in tending to RATE cases

Dear Raye Danielle Peralta,

Greetings!

This is to acknowledge receipt of your query through the FOI portal dated 11 September 2017 inquiring on the following:
1.	List of Run Against Tax Evaders (RATE) cases filed in the DOJ in 2014, 2015, and 2016;
2.	The status of RATE cases filed in 2014, 2015, and 2016; and,
3.	Legal actions implemented by the Department of Justice in tending to RATE cases.

With regard to the first two queries, kindly see enclosed documents from the National Prosecution Service Docket Section entitled “SUMMARY OF BIR-RATE CASES CY 2014-2016” and “LIST OF BIR CASES FILED FROM JANUARY 2014 TO DECEMBER 2016”.

As for the third query, the Department is constrained to impose or act only upon the functions conferred on it by law. Hence, upon filing of a complaint, the prosecutors will determine the existence of probable cause that will warrant the filing of the case in the proper courts.
