Pablo 09:12 AM, Aug 28, 2022

Hello, I am seeking this data in preparation of my thesis in the Masters of Science in Criminal Justice. I humble request of the following.

1. List of dismissed criminal cases in metropolitan and regional trial courts for the year 2020, 2021 and up to March 2022 in NCR or Metro Manila.
2. The reasons why these cases were dismissed.
3. List of criminal cases with conviction for the years 2020, 2021 and up to March 2022 in NCR or Metro Manila.

My first request was denied citing that i should request this to Supreme Court and not in the Department of Justice, but there is no SC in this form. TY

Dear Marco Polo Pablo,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Aug 28, 2022 09:12:17 AM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your request

You asked for a List of dismissed criminal cases in municipal, metropolitan and regional trial courts.

Response to your request

The DOJ does not have the data to answer your concern because courts are not under the jurisdiction of the Department but the Supreme Court (SC). The FOI platform only includes agencies/offices under the Executive branch of government since the FOI is only operational by virtue of an Executive Order from the President, and not by law. Your matter is best addressed to the SC.

Consequently, we cannot refer your FOI request to the SC because they are not on-board this platform.

To assist you, please e-mail the SC at pio@sc.judiciary.gov.ph.

Thank you.
