Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated May 07, 2019 10:14:01 AM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked, for research purpose, information regarding the number of detainees and existing facilities of the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) located in Mandaluyong City.  

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved. 

1.	Number of female detainees in CIW Mandaluyong
        As of 17 May 2019, 1600H, there are Three Thousand One Hundred Ninety-Six (3,196) female detainees in CIW Mandaluyong.

2.	Facilities of CIW Mandaluyong
        A.	 CIW has three (3) different camps inside the Prison Reservation.

                •	 The Maximum Security Compound, comprising of the Old and New Building, houses Two Thousand Nine Hundred Twenty-Five (2,925) maximum category PSDL (Persons Deprived of Liberty);
               •    	The Medium Security Camp houses Two Hundred Fifty Three (253) PSDL; and
               •	The Minimum Security Camp houses Eighteen (18) PSDL.

       B.	Other facilities inside the CIW are as follows: 
               •  	Gymnasium (currently being utilized as dormitory for PSDL due to overcrowding in prison cells)
               •       Chapel
               •       Infirmary
               •       IPX Store
               •       Learning Center
               •       Conference Room
               •	Function Room
               •	Different Offices located at the main building
               •	Industrial Shop
               •        DOJ Beauty Salon
               •        Kitchen
               •	Stage Area
               •	Library
               •       Display Center
               •       	Court room 

3.	Need for Other Facilities 

         CIW has requested the construction of the following additional facilities: 

•	Dormitory for detainees;
•	Recreational space;
•	Additional Offices; and
•	Barracks for new Custodial Personnel.
