Dear Ms. Laureola,
Greetings!
Thank you for your request dated 25 April 2022 04:37:13 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.
Your Request
You asked for the following:
1. The number of foreign nationals who visited the Philippines for business from January to March 2022; and
2. The number of foreign nationals who visited the Philippines for leisure from January to March 2022.
Response to Request
Your FOI request is approved.
We have enclosed a copy of the Report on Monitoring of Foreign Tourist Arrivals from Visa Free Countries, in lieu of the usual Visitor Arrivals to the Philippines by Country of Residence.
You may access the available data relative to your request at
https://www.foi.gov.ph/requests/aglzfmVmb2ktcGhyHQsSB0NvbnRlbnQiEERPVC0wMDkwNDE0Mzc3OTQM
Please be informed that the only available data for foreign tourist arrivals are generated through the One-Health Pass (OHP) pursuant to Republic Act No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act and in accordance with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Resolution Nos. 135, s. 2021 and 160-B, s. 2022. The list of Foreign Tourist Arrivals from Visa Free countries we have provided to you was generated from the OHP which is the official foreign tourist arrival count for February to March 2022. Likewise, there is no data for January 2022 since inbound foreign nationals were only permitted to enter the country in February 2022.
Additionally, the OHP platform developed by the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) which is being used by the DOT as primary source of tourist arrivals starting 10 February 2022, does not include the Purpose of Visit as a tourism-related indicator hence we cannot generate the said requested data.
Your right to request a review
If you are unhappy with our response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review by writing a letter or email addressed to Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat of the Department of Tourism and send it through email address: foi_ro@tourism.gov.ph. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with the response, and should be made within 15 working days from the date when you received this response. We will complete the review and tell you the result within 30 working days from the date when we receive your request for review.
If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011).
