Dear Ms. Arejola,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated 22 March 2021 03:00:10 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your Request

You asked for Main market and reasons for travelling in Quezon Province.

Response to Request

Your FOI request was approved. We enclosed a copy of the information you have requested.

You may find the data on tourist arrivals in CALABARZON for 2017 and 2019 at http://tourism.gov.ph/tourism_dem_sup_pub.aspx.

Below is the Quezon Province Market Analysis from DOT Region IV-A:

Majority of the tourists in Quezon Province are from the National Capital Region and from the
nearby Provinces which prefer having a day tour rather than overnight stays. Likewise, a total of 25,508,286 in same-day visitors and 3,427,286 in overnight stays are recorded in 2017-2019. Moreover, there are a recorded number of 8,033 in overseas arrivals or “balikbayans” and a total of 15,630 foreign visitors with majority from the republic of South Korea.

The top destination for overnight arrivals in this analysis is Sariaya followed by Mauban and
Tayabas while in same-day visitors is Lucban followed by Tayabas and Sariaya.

With the higher number of faith-based tourism attractions and activities in the province, most
of the tourists are families who were travelling for religious or spiritual purposes, and the
viewing of religious monuments and artefacts. These tourism activities became popular in the
province because of Kamay ni Hesus in Lucban, Our Lady of Sorrows National Shrine in Dolores,
Luminous Cross of Grace Sanctuary in Agdangan, Divine Mercy Hermitage in General Luna, Pag-ibig Prayer Garden in Infanta, Mountain of Faith in Macalelon and the old and historical churches in Tayabas, Lucban, Sariaya, etc.

There is also an emerging market trend in Quezon that attracts young professionals, students, and group tourists or “barkadas” –sun and beach tourism.

Sun and Beach Tourism

One of the nine core tourism products identified in the National Tourism Development
Plan (NTDP) 2011-2022. This has become an emerging tourism activity within the province because of the discovery and sudden popularization of its pristine island beaches in the Polillo Group of Islands, and Alibijaban Island in San Andres.

MICE tourism is also becoming a trend in the province where company outings, seminars and meeting are being held in several accommodations and resorts within the province.

MICE Tourism

Another core tourism product identified in the NTPD 2011-2020. This has become an emerging tourism activity in the province as large accommodation establishments in Lucban, Tayabas, and Sariaya are catering to this tourist markets in seasons.

Likewise, please be informed that the attached file and the information above were the only available data from DOT Region IV-A and the Department's Statistics, Economic Analysis and Information Management Division (SEAIMD).
