Good day,

I am a masteral student in UP Diliman doing a research about Evaluation on The Department of Tourism Accreditation to Tourism Establishments and Services to Promote Sustainability and Responsibility. May I ask for the following datas or any data related to the subject matter above:

1. Number of Tourism establishments that are not yet accredited nationwide. (Data or survey) 
2. Reasons for the P500 thousand working capital requirement for travel agencies and will it be a strict requirement?

Your Request

You asked for Non accredited tourism establishments nationwide.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved. 

According to DOT-SMED, such requirement was established to ensure that travel and tour agencies are liquid and have the capacity to guarantee the services they offer. Also, it shall also be strictly required. This is only applicable for those who will apply for DOT Accreditation.

Your right to request a review

If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat at 351 Sen. Gil Puyat Ave., Makati City. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response, and should be made within 15 calendar days from the date when you received this letter. We will complete the review and tell you the result within 30 calendar days from the date when we receive your review request.

If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011).
