This will be used for my Architectural thesis entitled "Expanding Universal Design: An Inclusive Recreational Camp for Persons with Visual Impairment".

The primary objective of the thesis project is to construct an inclusive recreational camp that is well-suited to serving and accommodating the visually impaired. In consideration of this, the following goals have been created:

•	To introduce a barrier-free recreational camp with the objective of improving leisure, physical activity, and quality of life for the visually impaired, as well as removing barriers to active participation by adapting the target user’s needs and preferences in the implementation of the proposed recreational spaces and activities.
•	To determine potential strategies for promoting tactile experiences of the target users incorporating elements that can be included to enhance accessibility such as materials like tactile walls and flooring, incorporating different fragrances, and acoustical features, and incorporate it to improve the navigability and exploration of the built environment.
•	To adapt the principles of sensory and universal design into the formulation of architectural planning for an inclusive recreational camp as well as the implementation of design solutions to ensure enhanced way-finding and independent exploration of the target users.

Thank you.

Dear Ms. Aberilla,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated 18 January 2023 10:07:40 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your request

You asked for the site selection criteria and design guidelines for Tourism Recreation Center.

Response to your request

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance this Office does not have the information you have requested. Please be informed that there is no planning and design guideline for recreational facilities that are being crafted at this time. Nor any site selection criteria for a tourism recreation center. You may want to directly coordinate with the LGU where you plan to choose a location when constructing the said facility if they have set rules for the same.
You may wish to check the National Accommodation Standards (NAS) crafted for hotels, resorts, and apartment hotels as a possible reference for the design. You may find the relevant files through this link: https://www.foi.gov.ph/requests/aglzfmVmb2ktcGhyHQsSB0NvbnRlbnQiEERPVC05NDYzMDU2NDYwOTMM
