Hi! I would like to request information regarding:

1. Department of Tourism's Criteria on Hotel Size Classifications Based on Number of Rooms (ex. Small Hotels - number of guest rooms does not exceed 25, Medium Hotels - number of guest rooms ranges between 26 and 100, and so on)

2. Classifications of Five-Star Hotels in Boracay Based on the Business Structure (Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Limited Liability Company, and Corporation)

3. Revenue of Five-Star Hotels in Boracay for the Year 2018, 2019, and 2020

Your Request

You asked for Hotel Classifications according to the Department of Tourism.

Response to Request

Your FOI request was approved. We enclosed a copy of the information you have requested.

Per DOT Region VI, since the closure of Boracay Island for rehabilitation last 2018, the star-rating classification was temporarily suspended for hotels and resorts in the island up to 
the present. Once the Central Office conducts the third-party evaluation, they shall continue accepting applicants for the said star-rating classification.

Please note that we are only able to provide some of the information you have requested.

As for the requested information on Item No. 3, you may contact the Provincial Government of Aklan through their website at  https://aklan.gov.ph/contact/.

Your right to request a review

If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat at 351 Sen. Gil Puyat Ave., Makati City. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response, and should be made within 15 calendar days from the date when you received this letter.
