February 20, 2023

Dear Fatma Sahara,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Feb 19, 2023 under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

Your request

You asked for Total number of registered businesses in Marawi City.

Response to your request

Please be informed that only sole proprietorships are registered with DTI, hence not all operating businesses may have been registered with DTI.

Also, kindly be advised that business name registration with the DTI is NOT a permit or a license to engage in any kind of business and that the adoption of the Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) in business name registration is solely for the purpose of classifying the primary business activities (product/s handled or service/s rendered) of those business names registered with the DTI. It is not intended to limit the activities of a business.

Any business, however, needs to be registered with the Local Government Unit - Business Permit and Licensing Office where the business is located (business address). In this context, we suggest that you contact the Local Government Unit - Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) of Marawi City for proper assistance.

Your right to request a review

If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011).

Thank you.
