You asked for a Request for Clarification on Vehicle Classifications.
Response to Request
Your FOI request is approved. I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested.
Definition of Terms
Motor Vehicle (MV)- any vehicle propelled by power other than muscular power using the public highways, except road rollers, trolley cars, street sweepers, sprinklers, lawn mowers, bulldozers, graders, forklifts, amphibian trucks and cranes if not used on public highways, vehicles which run only on rails or tracks, tractors, trailers and traction engines of all kinds used exclusively for agricultural purposes.
Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV)- shall include but not limited to any imported Completely Built Unit (CBU), Semi- Knocked- Down (SKD). Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit, Model 1991 or later with imported machine-cast body shell specially designed to transport persons & not used primarily for the carriage of freight, merchandise or cargo and having the characteristics, features and amenities similar to a car or automobile.
UV- Refers to utility vehicles whose gross vehicle weight shall not exceed 4500 kilograms and the passenger capacity thereof is less than eighteen (18).
TRUCKS (T)- refer to types of Trucks such as stake, platform, pick-up, trucks for gravel and sand, and others of the same configuration, including van and tanker types, provided that the gross vehicle weight exceeds 4500 kilograms.
BUSES (TB)- refer to buses and coaches whose passenger capacity ranges from eighteen (18) and above.
MOTORCYCLES (MC)- refer to motorcycles and mopeds, both with or without sidecar; motor vehicles with a seat or saddle for use of the rider and is designed to travel with not more than three wheels in contact with the ground when two or three wheels are functional parts of the sidecar.
TRL- refer to trailers whose gross vehicle weight is 1600 kilograms and below;
TRM- refer to trailers whose gross vehicle weight is 1601 to 4500 kilograms;
TRH- refer to trailers whose gross vehicle weight is 4501 kilograms and above.
Your right to request a review
