You asked for LTO - Vehicle Types.
Response to Request
Your FOI request is approved. As requested, here are the full meaning and definitions of the words based on the given list of vehicle classifications:
A. TAXI-sedan
Under taxi are the following:
1. TX Refer to taxicabs (sedan);
2. UV refer to utility vehicles granted franchise as taxi, such as Tamaraw FX, Mitsubishi Adventure, etc.
B. PUJ - refer to vehicles used to transport passengers/cargoes along a fixed/specific route or line, with a maximum capacity of seventeen passengers.
C. (TB) BUSES - refer to buses and coaches whose passenger capacity ranges from eighteen (18) and above.
D. (TC) refer to motorcycles/tricycles (with sidecars) for-hire, which operates within a territorial limit of a city or municipality except along the national highway.
E. PU refers to vehicles used to transport passengers within a territorial limit from a specified base of operation without fixed route and regular terminal & without meter to register fare charge.
1. Light-PU
L refers to passenger cars for-hire whose gross vehicle weight is up to 1600 kgs.
2. Medium-PU
M refer to passenger cars for-hire whose gross vehicle weight is 1601-2300 kgs.
F. SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLE (SUV) shall include but not limited to any imported Completely Built Unit (CBU), Semi-Knocked Down (SKD), Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit, Model 1991 or later with imported machine-cast body shell specially designed to transport persons & not used primarily for the carriage of freight, merchandise or cargo, and having the characteristics, features and amenities similar to a car or automobile such as the following:
a. Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero;
b. Nissan Patrol/Nissan Terrano;
c. Toyota Land Cruiser;
d. Toyota Rav4;
e. Ranger Rover;
f. Land Rover;
g. Ford Expedition;
h. Jeep Cherokee
i. Daihatsu Feroza;
j. Susuki Vitara;
k. Hoda CRV
l. Mercedez Benz Musso;
m. Kia Sportage;
n. Opel Vectra and the like
Provided that, all 1990 Models and earlier shall be taken as ordinary UV.
G. TRL refer to trailers whose gross vehicle weight is 1600 kilograms and below.
