I would like to request for information on the rate of reversal of verdict on appeal of criminal cases. Specifically, I would like to ask for any available data, statistics or research that you may have regarding the number of appeals that your office has filed in criminal cases that resulted to the reversal of the verdict? While I indicated a particular period in my request any information that you have on this matter regardless of the year would be greatly appreciated.

I refer to my letter of Jan 19, 2022 02:28:34 PM about your request under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch, for Reversal of verdict on appeal of criminal cases.

In order for us to work further on your request, we need more information from you regarding your query. In particular, it would be helpful to know if you are interested to know the no. of cases that resulted in full acquittal by the appellate court, or even cases where the court convicted the accused to a lesser offense and imposed a lower penalty (ie. from murder to homicide).
