VAWC CASES IN MOUNTAIN PROVINCE

Response to Request

This is in response to your request on the number of reported cases of violence against women and children in Mountain Province for 2022. We would like to inform you that PCW does not have city-specific data for VAWC cases but we can only provide you with the CAR VAWC statistics that we have acquired from the Philippine National Police. The file that we received from the aforementioned agency is attached to this response.

In the Philippines, Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 penalizes domestic violence against women and their children. The law covers physical, psychological, sexual, and economic abuses committed by intimate partners.

As of now, PNP is the only source of data on national incidence of violence against women having a well established reporting system through their Crime Information Reporting and Analysis System (CIRAS). This electronic system is fully operational in all police stations and community precincts in the country.

Please ensure proper citation. You may also email the PNP Women and Children Protection Center at omd.wcpc@pnp.gov.ph and statistics.wcpc@yahoo.com.ph, for further assistance on data and analysis concerns.

As an additional data source, please also check the webpage of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), specifically the Annual Statistical Fact Sheets on Women and Men in the Philippines which, among others, contain VAW data: https://psa.gov.ph/gender-stat/wmf.
