Good day. I'm Al Francis Viana, a fourth year student of San Beda University under the Department of Political Science. I would like to request the following data that will be used for my thesis paper:

1. Numbers of reported cases of land contestation between IP's and Non-IP's that have reached the Philippine National Police Office from November of 1997 to November of 2020(may it be a report relating to violence and injuries as much as it is rooted to land contestation such owning or grabbing)
2. Breakdown of such cases from different provinces and municipalities of Oriental Mindoro

Dear Al Francis Viaña,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Sep 07, 2021 01:12:13 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

We regret to inform you that the PNP have no data on the reported cases and the resolved/not yet resolved cases on land contestation involving Indigenous Peoples and Non-Indigenous Peoples.

Please note that when a PNP office receives a complaint regarding land disputes particularly concerning the IPs, the said PNP office assist the complainant in referring the case to the regional or field office of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) which is the primary government agency to resolve such cases. Thus, we recommend that you request to the NCIP through this FOI portal/site as they may provide you with comprehensive data.
