Greetings! I'm Rick Berdos, a reporter from VERA Files. We're conducting research about "fake news" charges files against journalists, academics, and activists.
May we request for:
1. A database of charges filed against all individuals accused of spreading "fake news" or false information.
2. A copy of all cases filed against journalists, activists, and academics, who were accused of spreading "fake news" or false information.
3. Additional documents, such as police reports and legal documents for such cases against journalists, activists, and academics, if available.

You asked for A database of anti-fake news cases against journalists, activists, academics.
Response to Request
Your FOI request is approved. I enclose a copy of the data on number of defamation cases in CALABARZON. However, we are unable to provide the information on documents and police reports because those data falls under exception on section 4 (Exception - Access to information shall be denied when information falls under any of the exceptions enshrines in the Constitution, existing law or jurisprudence) of Freedom of information Manual.
Your right to request a review
If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing to Regional Director, PRO 4A. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response, and should be made within 15 calendar days from the date when you received this letter. We will complete the review and tell you the result within 30 calendar days from the date when we receive your review request.
If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011).
