Suspension of SSS UMID Card Application Service

Requested from SSS by R. Quiambao at 05:00 PM on May 04, 2023.
Purpose: Personal
Date of Coverage: 01/26/2023 - 05/04/2023
Tracking no: #SSS-349618048238

Quiambao 05:00 PM, May 04, 2023

Hello.

I would like to ask why SSS UMID ID applications are not accepted at SSS offices at present. If there is a circular about it, I would like to see it as well.

When I tried to apply for a replacement of my ID card, I was told that UMID services had been on hold since January 26. But the guard manning the information desk could not explain the reason behind this.

I did not find any circulars about this ongoing suspension of UMID services on the SSS website (SSS Circulars page). The last UMID-related document there is about the resumption of UMID card application service issued in 2021.

I would like to point out the while I tagged the purpose of the request as "personal," the goal is to know the reason for or get a copy of the circular regarding the current suspension of UMID application services at SSS offices.

In the response I received, the reason given for the rejection/denial was that "Freedom of Information (FOI) does not cover inquiries and concerns that disclose member information and details." The circular, if such existed for this particular issue of the suspension of UMID application services, would not include member information and should have been published and made available on the SSS website for all to see--like the suspension back in 2020 (Circular 2020-009)--but it wasn't, hence the request.

I still do not see any information about this issue on the website or any of the social media accounts of the agency. Recall also that I personally went to an SSS office but was not given a reason for the suspension when I asked. On MySSS, appointment setting for application for UMID isn't available either (I am just not sure when this option was removed from the drop-down list).

We, SSS members, are entitled to know why this particular service isn't available at this time.
