Good day,

I am writing to request information on the usage of plastic wrap for luggage at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Philippines from 2013 to 2023. Specifically, I am interested in the following data:

1. The number of rolls of plastic wrap imported each year
2. The number of passengers who avail of the plastic wrap service
3. The nationality of these passengers
4. Any other available data regarding plastic wraps (e.g., how it has helped lessen the 'tanim-bala')

I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide me with any available statistics or data on this matter.

You asked for Request for Data on Plastic Wrap Usage on Luggages at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved. I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested.

On your question numbers:

1)  MIAA has no information on this. Perhaps you can ask Department of Trade Industry (https://www.foi.gov.ph/requests?agency=DTI) or Bureau of Customs (https://www.foi.gov.ph/requests?agency=BOC).

2 & 3) MIAA has no information on this either. The services are provided by MIAA's concessionaires:
- SBSN Baggage Wrapping Services (NAIA Terminal 2)
- MNL Baggage Wrapping (NAIA Terminal 1)
- Wrap-N-Fly (NAIA Terminal 1)
Perhaps you can e-mail them for information.

4) As to how it has reduced "tanim bala", we refer you to PNP AVSEU (https://www.foi.gov.ph/requests?agency=PNP) which handles the terrorism side of MIAA's Security.
