Good Day, I kindly request your assistance with the medical expenses for my wife's treatment. She was diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease and has been receiving medical care since her admission to North General Hospital Cebu on October 3, 2023. After a week of hospitalization, she underwent an open heart surgery on October 16, 2023, and she is currently in the process of recovery at Perpetual Succour Hospital. 

The financial burden of these medical bills is overwhelming for our family, and we are seeking financial aid from your esteemed office.

Dear Mr. Sotero Perez,

Greetings!

Thank you for your request dated Oct 17, 2023 07:53:57 PM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch for a request for Medical Assistance to defray hospital expenses of dependents.

Mr. Perez you did not inform us if you are the OFW or is it your wife?
The OWWA has a medical assistance for its ACTIVE OWWA Members who have an active membership status status with PhilHealth called the MEDPLUS.  We have NO MEDICAL ASSISTANCE for the dependents of the OFWs.

Moreover, the Department of Health is the lead agency of  government that provides the medical assistance through PhilHealth and the Health Centers.  Your local government unit (LGU) in Cebu has also a medical assistance program for their constituents as well as the office of the Governor.  

If you are unhappy with this response to your FOI request, you may ask us to carry out an internal review of the response by writing the OWWA- FOI Decision Makers at email: foi_dm@owwa.gov.ph. Your review request should explain why you are dissatisfied with this response and should be made within FIFTEEN (15) calendar days from the date you received this letter. We will complete the review and tell you the result within THIRTY (30) calendar days from the date we received your review request.

However, if you are still not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011).
