Dear Ms. Gonzalvo:

This refers to your letter dated 11 May 2017 requesting this Office for the latest data on the (1) number of CES eligibles from 2010 onwards, broken down per year; (2) number of CES positions in government; (3) number of appointees with existing CESO rank; (4) number of CESO applicants per year since 2010; and (5) other related statistics relative to a special report of the GMA Network, Inc. on the presidential appointees to CES positions in the Philippines.

As requested, we are pleased to provide the following attached statistical tables regarding Philippine Career Executive Service:

1.	Table 1 – Total Number of Occupied and Vacant CES Positions by Sex and CES Status: 2010-2017; and
2.	Table 2 – Total Number of CES Applicants and Successful Candidates who were Conferred CES Eligibility: 2010-2017.

It is respectfully informed that the CESB motu proprio conducts position classification studies on positions with salary grade (SG) 25 and above in various departments and agencies to ensure that the coverage of the CES is in accordance with set policies, including the decisions of the Supreme Court in Civil Service Commission v. Court of Appeals and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, G. R. No. 185766-67, 23 November 2010, which limited the scope of the CES to managerial/ executive positions requiring Presidential appointments.

It is hoped that these data may be useful in providing relevant information pertinent to your efforts to produce a special report on officials appointed to CES positions in the Philippine civil service.
